The United States Marine Corps, established on November 10, 1775, has a rich history of valor, sacrifice, and dedication to protecting our nation's freedoms. From the earliest battles of the American Revolution to modern-day conflicts around the globe, the Marines have been at the forefront of every major U.S. military engagement. Their courage and commitment are deeply embedded in the fabric of our nation’s history. This powerful image, captured by photographer Joe Rosenthal, symbolizes the tenacity and bravery of the Marines who fought in the brutal battle for Iwo Jima. The photo depicts six Marines struggling to hoist the flag atop Mount Suribachi, and it has since become an enduring symbol of the Marines' unyielding spirit and their role in securing victory in one of the war’s most pivotal moments. As we reflect on the history of the U.S. Marines, it’s essential to honor their contributions and remember the sacrifices they have made to protect our way of life. The legacy of the Marines is one of steadfast loyalty, exceptional bravery, and a deep...
