Every September, Leon’s Obstacle Race comes to life at Indiana Dunes National Park West Beach location— but it doesn’t happen overnight. It takes days of preparation, miles of walking, and countless hands working together to create an unforgettable experience for our participants and supporters.
This year, from September 8–10, Leon and his dedicated team will be at the park from sunup to sundown, setting up flags, marking the course, and transforming the space into the challenging and inspiring obstacle race we all look forward to.
We don’t have a formal volunteer sign-up or a single person in charge of organizing helpers — instead, we simply open our arms to anyone willing to give a little time. Whether you can stay for half a day, lend a hand for 30 minutes, or just stop by to pitch in where you can, we will be incredibly grateful for your help. You can find us at the West Beach location.
The work can be as simple as carrying supplies, helping plant flags, setting up barricades, or assisting with small tasks that make a big difference. Every set of hands brings us one step closer to being ready.
And if you can’t make it during those setup days but still want to be involved, we would warmly welcome your help on race day as well. Race day is Sunday, September 14. From cheering on participants to guiding runners or supporting water stations, there are many ways to be part of the experience.
This event has always been built on community spirit and generosity. If you feel moved to join us — even for a short time — know that your support is deeply appreciated and never taken for granted.
We hope to see you out there. Together, we’ll make this year’s race something truly special.
