After the devastating derecho our community recently experienced, we wanted to take a moment to simply say thank you.
In the midst of the damage, disruption, and uncertainty, we have been humbled by the incredible number of people who have stepped forward to help. From utility workers putting in endless hours to restore power, to those providing food, water, supplies, and assistance to neighbors in need, we have witnessed something that reminds us once again what it means to live in this great country.
People show up.
Communities come together.
And when someone is hurting, Americans have a way of stepping forward and doing what needs to be done.
We are deeply grateful for every person who has gone the extra mile. To those working long hours, donating supplies, checking on neighbors, offering a helping hand, and simply doing whatever they can, please know that your efforts do not go unnoticed.
This is the American spirit we believe in.
It is the spirit that has carried this country through its greatest challenges. It is the determination to keep moving forward, the willingness to help one another, and the understanding that we are stronger when we stand together.
It is also the spirit behind Leon’s Heroes and our upcoming September 13 Obstacle Course Race.
This event was created to honor the heroes of September 11, 2001, and this year marks the 25th anniversary of that tragic day. It is a time to remember those we lost, honor those who answered the call, and recognize the courage and unity that emerged in the days that followed.
Today, as our own community faces difficult circumstances, those values feel especially meaningful.
Even in challenging times, we move forward.
Not because the road is always easy, but because that is what Americans have always done.
This nation has weathered storms of every kind. We have faced natural disasters, conflict, tragedy, and challenges that at times may have seemed overwhelming. Yet, time and again, we rebuild. We help one another. We get back up.
And we look toward the next sunrise.
It is in that same spirit that we are moving forward with the September 13 Obstacle Course Race.
We warmly welcome everyone to join us. Come race, volunteer, support, or simply experience an event created to honor our Military, Veterans, First Responders, and the enduring American spirit.
As we also prepare to commemorate 250 years of America, we are reminded that the strength of this country has always been found in its people.
People who work.
People who serve.
People who sacrifice.
People who refuse to give up.
To everyone who has helped our community during this devastating time, thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Your kindness, hard work, and willingness to serve others are a powerful reminder that even after the darkest storms, there is hope.
And there is always another sunrise.
