At Leon’s Triathlon, few things have become as iconic—and as moving—as the presence of the Indiana Army National Guard and their BlackHawk helicopter. What began as a powerful tribute has evolved into a deeply personal journey, one that has become woven into the very fabric of our event.
Over the years, their unwavering support has brought meaning far beyond the racecourse. The BlackHawk’s sunrise arrival is more than just a breathtaking moment—it’s a symbol of service, strength, and national pride. These soldiers are not just participants; they are family. And Lord-willing, this is a journey that will continue for many years to come.
Looking ahead to 2026, we are especially honored to be preparing for a milestone that will unite us all: the 250th birthday of America. It will be a once-in-a-generation celebration of our nation’s legacy—and our goal is to take Leon’s Triathlon to the next level in patriotism and gratitude. We are more committed than ever to honoring those who serve and to creating a race weekend that reflects the heart of our country.
We are tremendously humbled by the Indiana Army National Guard’s continued presence and support. Their service and sacrifice are impossible to fully capture in words, but we want them to know how deeply appreciative we are. It is a true honor to share this space with such remarkable humans.
To accompany this message, we’re proud to share a stunning video of the BlackHawk soaring over the beach at sunset. It’s a moment that says everything we feel—pride, reverence, and hope.
Here’s to what’s ahead: more purpose, more patriotism, and an unforgettable celebration of America’s 250th birthday. Thank you, Indiana Army National Guard. We salute you.
