Melissa Stockwell

We are profoundly honored to have Melissa Stockwell competing in our race. Melissa has been an integral part of Leon’s Triathlon for many years. As a co-founder of the Chicago-based Dare2tri Paratriathlon Club alongside Keri Serota and Dan Tun, she exemplifies dedication and excellence. A USA Triathlon Level I certified coach, Melissa serves as a mentor and friend to her fellow Dare2tri athletes as they train and compete. Her commitment extends beyond the track as she serves on the board of directors for the Wounded Warriors Project and the USA Triathlon Women’s Committee, in addition to being a member of the USA Triathlon Foundation Board of Trustees.

A licensed prosthetist, Melissa is currently dedicating herself to full-time triathlon training at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She is also a proud member of the United States Paralympic team and a 2016 Paralympic Bronze Medalist.

We are especially grateful to have Melissa join us again this year, particularly as this is an Olympic year and marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day. With participants and spectators from coast to coast, this year’s event promises to be truly special. We invite everyone in the area to come by and express their gratitude to the many veterans and first responders who will be present.

From the bottom of our hearts, we wish Melissa and the entire U.S. Paralympic team the very best this year.
