Important 2021 Updates

After a very challenging 2020, we’re truly grateful for the ability to start the 2021 planning process. Nothing is certain, yet we remain optimistic that we will meet again in-person on Sunday, June 6 at Wolf Lake. Below is our initial plan toward getting there. We have some BIG things planned for 2021 but we’re starting small. It’s our intention to be fair and transparent to everyone involved during the next few months, and hope you can understand our policies and rationale. Thank you for understanding.

2021 Registration Access

Preliminary registration opened in February and has reached capacity. In anticipation of State of Indiana protocols, we have limited the initial registration capacity at 250 participants. As future Covid-19 restrictions and Lake County positivity rates improve, additional slots will be released on a first-come, first-served basis.

COVID-19 Implications

The endurance industry has shown that producing safe events during the pandemic is possible. Leon’s Triathlon will abide by local, state and federal agency guidelines as well as USA Triathlon Safe Return to Multisport standards. We are prepared to initiate a variety of unique event protocols, including a larger Transition area, low or no-contact packet pick-up process, expanded time trial start schedule, self-service aid stations and pre-packaged athlete food. Exact implications will be shared closer to race weekend.

COVID-19 Cancellation Clause

In the event the 2021 event (scheduled for June 6, 2021) is postponed or cancelled due to continued Covid-19 pandemic restrictions, registrants will have 2 options:

  1. Receive a 40% refund of your entry fee
  2. Be automatically deferred to the next scheduled event at no additional cost

Thank you for your understanding and flexibility. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
